On Tuesday, the McEachern Indians visited the Hillgrove Hawks and looked to pick up their second consecutive win after taking down Norcross on Saturday. The Despite the Indians leading throughout most of the night, Hillgrove would play tough and keep the game within reach through the first three quarters.
However, it would be in the fourth quarter when the Indians defense would turn up the pressure as they held the Hawks to just eight points in the final period of play, while scoring 18 of their own. The Indians offense would be led by seniors Camron McDowell and Randy Brady. The two would combine for 53 points, one point more than Hillgrove’s total for the night. McDowell would finish with 30 points and Brady with 23.
Following the game, McEachern head coach, Mike Thompson said he felt that his team was beginning to play better defensively and that has helped contribute to their last couple of wins. “We’re defending a little bit better than we did early on, so trying to bring the group together that way,” Thompson said, adding that not having a lot of time “together this summer” so offensively they have a mix of newer players and returning players “learning to play together.”
